Problem: We run an RDS environment where Mac clients can connect in via RDP to Windows 7 Enterprise workstations to run business applications. The user successfully logs into the RDP session. They then attempt to bring the RDP Session into Full Screen, at which point the RDP Window goes into full screen mode and then begins to slowly minimize the screen starting at the bottom right and eventually disappearing the window as it minimizes itself underneath the Remote Desktop heading in the top left of screen. As the window closes it attempts to scale the RDP Window at the same time it slowly closes it.

Remote desktop is not displayed in Full-Screen mode when the screen resolution is 1366× 768 pixels in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2. Mar 17, 2016  The latest Microsoft Remote Desktop version for Mac is 8.0.26 from Jan 12, 2016. If you don't have that installed, it may resolve that full screen issue. Unless the CoRD folks are remiss in updating their requirements page, it shows compatibility for OS X 10.5 through 10.8. There was a note from Oct 23.

  1. Jun 04, 2014  I have not run Remote Desktop in a while but I used to run it on dual screens under Mountain Lion. I suspect you'll need to switch back to the ML method of handling multiple displays - go to menu System Preferences Mission Control and uncheck 'Displays have separate Spaces'. That lets both displays be part of the same 'Space', so that you can bridge across them with the Remote Desktop.
  2. Oct 19, 2018 I have a 4K laptop and I want to connect through remote desktop to another PC. Everything is absoluty tiny. So I found that there's a zoom function. Brilliant, however when it's zoomed to anything other than 100%, the full screen option gets disabled. Smart resize also looks great, but doesn't want to play along with zoom either.

Attempts to interact with the RDP session as it does this are futile. Once the window fully minimizes to null, the user gets deposited back to the standard RDP sign in screen and is able to log back into the machine where the process repeats itself.

I am able to duplicate this on several Macbook's under different users and different RDP sessions. Additionally I can duplicate this when connecting over several different networks.

This solution has worked previously with no issues for many many months. Problem has just begun this week. No OSX or MS RDP App updates have been installed since it last worked. PC users can connect using the same methodology with no issues.
