If your document is just a little bit longer than one page, how can you shrink it to fit?
We’ve seen customer questions asking where this feature is in Word 2010.
Answer: It’s in the command well. And you can pluck it from there and add it to the ribbon.
In an earlier post on customizing the ribbon, I showed you how to create custom tabs and groups. I created a custom tab called Writing and added a Print group to it. Now, I can add the Shrink One Page command to my Printing group. (For the all the details on creating custom groups and tabs, see Customize the ribbon.)
To start, click the File tab, click Options, and click Customize Ribbon.
In the Choose commands from list, click All Commands.
Scroll through that long list until you reach Shrink One Page, and then click it.
Under Customize the ribbon, click the custom group where you want to add the command. In my case, I’ll click the plus sign next to my custom Writing tab and then I’ll click my custom Printing group.
Click Add, and then click OK.
The Highlight key points will allow you to go through the document and find most commonly used words and phrases so you can conclude your own summary.Using the Executive Summary basically auto generates a summary of the document and places it at the top of the document.
Now, the Shrink One Page command is on the ribbon.

The Fit to Window command is a Word 2011for Mac feature that’s so handy you might wonder why it’s not always on by default, or why it’s not part of any Mac toolbar. The Fit to Window command automatically keeps the document sized proportionally to the document window. After you try this command, you’ll probably use Fit to Window a lot; it’s a great example for discovering how easy it is to add commands to any toolbar.
To add the Fit to Window command to a Word toolbar in Office 2011 for Mac, take these steps:

In Word, choose View→Toolbars→Customize Toolbars and Menus.
The Customize Toolbars and Menus dialog appears.
Click the Commands tab.
In the Categories list (on the left), select the View category.
In the Commands list (on the right), scroll down to find the Fit to Window command, and then select it.
Notice that when you select a command, its description appears in the Description area. This is very handy for finding out more about commands you may have never explored or seen before.
Drag the Fit to Window command from the dialog to any toolbar and then release the mouse button when you see a shadowed insertion bar.
When the Customize Toolbars and Menus dialog is open, you can move any toolbar command or menu item by dragging it to any toolbar or menu. You can also rearrange the commands on any toolbar or menu by dragging the commands to new positions on the same or other toolbars.
Click OK to close the Customize Toolbars and Menus dialog.
You can use these same general steps to add other commands in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
